Position SummaryThe Department of EmergencyMedicine is seeking to hire a motivated professional to serve as the ResearchCoordinator to support and coordinate enrollment for clinical research studies.

This individual will beresponsible for working with a diverse team of clinical investigators andresearch staff to coordinate currently active research studies. Primary duties include research study subjectenrollment including data and research specimen collection, supervision ofstudent employees in screening and data entry and data quality assurance tasks,planning and execute study promotional activities to keep clinical staffinformed about active research studies. Additional responsibilities includesite investigative file maintenance, reporting of protocol of safetyinformation to the institutional review board (IRB) as needed and regularcommunication with the research team and clinical trial sponsors and theirrepresentatives.

This position requiresapplicants to work in the emergency department. Thus applicants must be able to collect andprepare data and research specimens in accordance with protocols, maintainregulatory binders, and supervise the process of data entry and quality assurance. Thisposition may require scheduling evening and weekend work hours in order to meetenrollment demands.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

PreferredQualifications:
Experiencein identifying barriers to understanding and knowledge gaps
Experience with Microsoft Office products including spreadsheets (Word,PowerPoint, Excel)
Experience delivering oral presentations to small groups
Completion of a Human Research Protections (HRP) Training and Good ClinicalPractices curriculum or program
Medical experience or current license (EMT, RN, etc.) or experience workingwith Protected Health Information (PHI)
Research experience including the use of data collection software (REDCap,OpenClinica, etc.)
Experience maintaining and updating clinical study binders
IRB and grant submission experience
Basic understanding of research study design and statistics
