Position Summary

The ideal candidate for the CTSC Research Coordinator position will have experience coordinating clinical trials with all populations, including Hispanic and/or Native American communities. This includes completing IRB submissions (local and external), patient recruitment and retention, and data collection and maintenance.

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center (UNMHSC), Pediatric Department is seeking a bi-lingual, detail-oriented, results-driven individual to join our team as a Clinical Research Coordinator. The selected candidate for this position must be able to multitask effectively to implement and coordinate research and administrative procedures for the successful management of clinical trials. The applicant will perform diverse administrative duties as required by each project with a high level of knowledge of study specific protocols. They must have and demonstrate interpersonal skills and communication skills both orally and in writing in carrying out the duties of this position. This candidate will also have a firm understanding of good clinical practices in conducting research, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of university and community stakeholders. Depending on the study, these stakeholders might include health care providers, funding agencies, university researchers, and media representatives.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Speak, read, and write in Spanish and English fluently
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license
  • Experience or training drawing and processing blood from Pediatric Patients
  • Experience working with Hispanic and/or Native American communities
  • Experience with medical terminology in clinical practices in conducting research
  • Experience working with members of a multi-disciplinary research team
  • Experience with recruitment, enrolment, and scheduling of research subjects
  • Experience coordinating research studies in accordance with established study protocols and in accordance with federal, local, and institutional policies and guidelines for clinical trials and community-based research
  • Experience preparing applications and other documents for submission to an Institutional Review Board (IRB)
