Position Summary

Summary

Under general supervision, develops, implements, and oversees a range of functions associated with online curriculum. Oversees the development and creation of each semester's schedule of classes for online and hybrid Main Campus course sections. Coordinates the assignment of academic technology classrooms (parent classrooms for OYSNC and OSYNC hybrid sections) for the University. Collaborates with cross-functional academic administrators across campus and colleges. Collaborates with a variety of teams including UNM Learn technical support and UNM IT Academic Technology staff; Center for Digital Learning instructional design staff; UNM Online leadership and student support staff, and Enrollment Management Scheduling Office. Conducts highly focused, detailed-oriented work managing curriculum and scheduling data. Performs project planning, development, implementation and control. Provides technical guidance, training, and support to staff, students and/or volunteers, as appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Works directly and independently with coordinators of academic and administrative units in the development and modification of course section scheduling resources and accommodations.
  2. Acts as primary point of contact and liaison with academic units across all colleges on a range of complex scheduling, operational and administrative issues related to academic online and hybrid course offerings.
  3. Assists in project planning, development, implementation and control to ensure efficiency in meeting the needs of the organization and the University.
  4. Establishes and implements workflow patterns and operating standards to accommodate academic unit course/section scheduling requirements and requests.
  5. Participate in strategic organizational planning and managerial decision making.
  6. Coordinates and schedules academic technology classroom space and related facilities to achieve optimum usage efficiency.
  7. Collaborates with academic support staff in their preparation of class schedules each semester; facilitates updates to scheduling paperwork that reflect cancellations, rescheduling, addition, or modification of academic classes.
  8. Coordinates the scheduling of academic technologies classroom facilities for main campus; serves as liaison between the UNM Scheduling Office, UNM IT/Academic Technologies, UNM IT/Learn Support, and the Center for Digital Learning.
  9. Collaborates with cross-functional academic schedulers and unit administrators across campus, along with UNM Online leadership and student support staff.
  10. Coordinates data entry and proofs of the Schedule of Online Classes within UNM Online.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Knowledge of publishing processes, procedures, and techniques.
  • Word processing and/or data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of computerized student information systems.
  • Ability to schedule events and/or facilities usage.
Distinguishing Characteristics

Position requires: a) providing leadership in handling complex scheduling procedures; b) designing and delivering UNM Online workshops regarding the coordination of scheduling online and hybrid academic classes; c) acting as subject matter expert on complex schedule coordination issues, as they relate to online and hybrid courses; e) troubleshooting schedule coordination problems for department administrators, faculty and support staff; e) managing and updating the UNM Online Scheduling webpage

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Knowledge of computer software necessary for basic office functions
* Knowledge and experience supporting UNM Scheduling processes
* Knowledge of FERPA
* Knowledge of university-level online education and technology-facilitated courses
* Experience working in higher education, university environment
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to engage with student information using UNM Banner and MyReports
* Experience with database management in desktop and cloud environments
* Experience working independently and with diverse groups
