Position Summary

Summary

Performs a range of associated administrative support and customer service activities, requiring advanced or specialized knowledge and skills of on-campus housing management, specifically for the Student Mailroom. Plans and performs the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of a narrowly defined program-the Student Mailroom. Coordinates and facilitates program functions and/or special events, as appropriate. Provides specialized support to specified administrative activities across multiple organizational units within the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a range of diverse administrative activities for the organizational unit, including administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of a specialized and narrowly defined program or project. This position would be in support of the Student Mailroom.
  • Serves as a liaison between residents, housing administrators, other departments, and/or external constituencies in relation to day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues. This would include serving 2000+ residential students on Main Campus, that can opt into the Student Mailroom.
  • Provides specialized support for atypical student housing requests or needs.
  • Assists in administrative problem-solving, program planning, development, and execution of stated goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of operational issues to create, compose, and edit administrative correspondence and documentation; may compile data and reports. This would be for the Student Mailroom and any other duties as assigned.
  • Provides support in the development, implementation, and marketing of a program function.
    Serves as a designed backup for other department personnel.
  • May supervise and train lower-level staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.
    Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in adverse communities.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Clerical, word processing, and/or office skills.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Ability to lead and train assigned staff.
