Position Summary

UNM Information Technologies is looking for an IT Specialist (DevOps Solution Architect) to lead the creation, operationalization and implementation of our development and application environments and to lead and complete efforts in development, automation, deployment, monitoring and infrastructure/cloud. UNM IT is implementing DevSecOps Environments and Methodologies and needs proactive, talented and energetic team players to help us continue the journey and join our current team of talented staff. The scope of work is diverse, and all candidates must have a broad range of functional and technical capabilities.

The successful candidate will:

  • Continuously learn new and emerging DevSecOps and cloud technologies
  • Execute the implementation and deployment of various projects with a consultative approach aimed at promoting modern infrastructure and application delivery practices
  • Provide technical leadership across all areas of the build, release and operations, to ensure delivery of exceptional DevOps technical solutions
  • Engineer, design and implement secure solutions within cloud environments utilizing tools such as Azure DevOps, PowerShell DSC, Docker, and other technologies; including the implementation, deployment, and migration activities
  • Contribute to the overall automation and integration strategies for UNM IT
  • Develop documentation and standards for all service offerings - templates, best practices, architecture and design documents, training/knowledge transfer
  • Lead and maintain the Applications DevOps processes
  • Develop and implement instrumentation for monitoring the health and availability of services. including fault detection, alerting, triage, and recovery (automated and manual)
  • Work in conjunction with IT and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements
  • Experimentation with new cloud technologies to define their use cases/suitability
  • Identify the Accelerators that can be introduced to assist with the implementation and adoption of DevOps within the organization
  • Architect, implement and maintain a continuous build environment to speed up software development and deployment process
  • Provide On-Call Support according to our rotation schedule
  • Complete other Duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

As demonstratedby supporting documentation (cover letter, resume, portfolio, etc.):

  • Have experience in CI/CD pipeline creation and management
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining secure and reliable cloud-based solutions/environments including automations, containers and Cloud concepts - IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
  • Strong knowledge of key DevOps concepts - continuous integration and delivery
  • Experience working in an Agile environment focusing on lean delivery including the use of Scrum and/or Kanban
  • Have at least a broad understanding of technology, process, people, and practice for:

o Agile / scrum methods
o Build and release management
o Infrastructure strategy and operations
o Operations service delivery and support
o IT organizational structure and responsibilities
o Business continuity
o Security

  • Proficient with the following technologies:

o Cloud automation
o PowerShell, or other scripting languages;
o Azure DevOps Service/Server,
o Jenkins,
o Git and/or Jira,
o Ansible, Docker, and/or Kubernetes

  • Practical hands-on experience working on Azure using key services like VM, Azure API, Azure DevOps or Cloud Services.
  • Strong automation skills (tool agnostic) and the ability to drive initiatives to automate processes.
  • Effective cross-functional leadership skills: working with development and operational teams to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and reliable.
  • Exceptional communication, written and documentation skills
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and micro-services in an enterprise setting, and can evaluate and drive migration of monolithic applications to microservices and corresponding changes in SDLC pipelines.
  • Clear sense of customer service
  • Commitment to mentoring and developing technical staff is desirable
