Position Summary

The Developmental Care Program, Department of Pediatrics, Neonatology Division, is seeking a full time social worker to join our team. The interdisciplinary Developmental Care team (occupational, physical, speech, family and infant massage therapists, early childhood educator, family liaisons) is an integral component of the Neonatology Division. The Division and Program serve infants and families in a 51 bed regional NICU, including transitions to home and statewide follow-up.

This individual provides relationship-based, comprehensive support services for families of premature and/or critically ill infants as part of an interdisciplinary team. This position is responsible for providing case management services including administering a wide range of psychosocial evaluation/assessments and crisis intervention services in a high-intensity clinical environment which requires a high degree of independent decision-making. Additionally, the following familiarity and skills are required for this position: Excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of community resources including resources for meeting basic needs, housing, and mental health services; experience collaborating with other hospital departments and outside organizations; knowledge and experience working with the NM CPS system; fluency in Spanish.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or directly related field; at least 6 months of directly related experience which may include internship and/or practicum.Certification/LicensureNM licensure as LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent level, OR licensed out of state and eligible for NM licensure.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualification:

  • NM licensure as a LMSW
  • Experience providing case management services
  • Knowledge and Experience working with the NM CPS system
  • Experience working in a hospital setting
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
