Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a highly analytical and curious professional to lead design, integrate and manage critical data that powers decision-making to join our Business Performance & Insights team within the Fiscal Services Department as a Data Manager.

In this role, you won’t just manage data-you’ll shape strategy. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across departments to streamline reporting, enhance data quality, and deliver dashboards and analytics that improve care delivery, resource allocation, and system performance. With a sharp analytical mindset and exceptional attention to detail, you will ensure the integrity of financial and operational data to deliver advanced analytics and actionable business insights.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

· Lead the integration of healthcare financial and operational data from source systems (e.g., PMS, ERP, GL) into Workday Adaptive Planning.

· Design and develop complex reports, dashboards, and visual analytics in Workday Adaptive Planning tailored to finance and business user needs.

· Collect, clean, and structure healthcare data from multiple sources for use in analysis and reporting.

· Ensure data integrity through validation routines, audit processes, and reconciliation procedures across integrated data sets.

· Manage, analyze, and report financial and healthcare data to support organizational decision-making by building and maintaining complex Excel-based models, automating workflows, and creating reports that translate raw data into actionable insights for clinical, operational, and financial stakeholders.

· Work in close partnership with the Financial Analyst to ensure alignment between data governance and financial reporting requiring strong cross-functional communication and shared commitment to data integrity and continuous improvement.

· Create and maintain documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and system diagrams; document code changes and system modifications.

The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its more than 136 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico’s cancer patients from all across the state and partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. They treated almost 15,000 patients in more than 100,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of nearly 1,855 patients participated in cancer clinical trials testing new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The more than 123 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNMCCC were awarded $38.2 million in federal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects. Since 2015, they have published nearly 1000 manuscripts, and promoting economic development, they filed 136 new patents and launched 10 new biotechnology start-up companies. Finally, the physicians, scientists and staff have provided education and training experiences to more than 500 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancer health care delivery. Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning, including model management, formula creation, versioning, and access controls.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including dynamic array, Power Pivot, secondary axis charts, nested functions, macros) and Microsoft Access.

· Relational database concepts, terminology of relational databases and database design using principles of SQL Data management techniques to build descriptive data analysis and reporting.
