Position Summary

The College of Education andHuman Sciences invites applicants for its Department Administrator position for the Department of Individual,Family, and Community Education. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, forwardthinking professional able to balance complex tasks and be a reliable resourcefor the Department Chair, faculty, and students. We seek a team-orientedprofessional to provide key administrative support, management, and input onstrategic initiatives and departmental matters.

With the support of centralized services and shared staffing, thisposition serves as the primary point of contact for the department and overseesthe day-to-day activities across the unit. The Department Administratorprovides a wide range of support to include HR related activities for faculty,staff, and students, budget oversight, coordination of scheduling of academiccourses, and management of administrative operations. This position providesdirect supervision to subordinate employees including planning, assigning, andorganizing work.

This position requires strong organizational and critical thinkingskills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential mattersdiscretely. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability toprioritize work and effectively oversee multiple projects and deadlines for adiverse group.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with staff personnel processes, including hiring, work allocation, and performance management.
  • Experience with faculty hiring procedures and related record management and processes.
  • Experience with budget oversight and fiscal procedures.
  • Experience with academic course scheduling.
  • Experience in administrative support in an academic setting.
  • Experience with UNM HR and financial systems.
