The Department of Psychology is seeking an innovative, energetic professional to join our team. The psychology department is a large complex, research intensive unit within the College of Arts and Sciences. We have approximately 27 faculty, 10 part-time faculty and term teachers, 68 graduate students and over 1,000 undergraduate majors. The Department Administrator is responsible for the administrative and management functions of the department and will provide fiscal management of a complex and large set of budgets. The department also has oversight of the Psychology Clinical Neuroscience clinic (PCNC), Animal Research Facility (ARF), Psychology clinic, and Agora. The psychology department also has strong collaborations with CASAA, the Mind Research network, and Health Sciences Center departments including secondary appointments, LAT’s, hires, and contract/grant sub-awards.

The Dept. Administrator works closely with the Dept. Chair to ensure the smooth functioning of all aspects of the department administration. Duties include, but are not limited to: Supervision of staff, faculty, staff, and student hires. Human resource actions for employees and volunteer processing. Oversee the fiscal management. Liaison to the College of Arts & Sciences faculty, staff and development operations, the Office of Academic Personnel (OAP) for faculty activities, Sponsored Projects and Contracts and grants office, and other pertinent core office personnel of UNM’s central administration. The Department Administrator will supervise psychology staff and mentor research staff and student employees.

This position requires an advanced level of administrative experience and skill working with all aspects of UNM’s electronic management systems. A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the wide range of constituencies that make up the diverse community of staff, learners and faculty of our department is essential.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 4 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree

· At least 2 years’ experience at UNM or other large university in an administrative staff, fiscal services, or human resources position

· Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated successful application of UNM’s or other large university’s business policies and procedures for faculty, staff, and students

· Experience using UNMJobs or analogous large-university system for all aspects of hiring of faculty, staff, and students (undergraduate and graduate) and understanding management policies in these areas

· Experience working with various applications including Banner Finance, MyReports, Chrome River, E-Print, HR Reports, and Payroll systems

· Experience working with UNM LoboMart or other large university’s purchasing system, experience working with university purchasing cards such as UNM’s P Card, and knowledge of associated policies and record keeping

· Knowledge and experience working with in contracts and grants administration

· Knowledge of and direct experience with UNM or other large university accounting policies and procedures including budgeting and transferring of funds, direct payment invoices, purchase requisitions and purchase orders, workflows, payroll, expenditures, and experience developing budgets, day-to-day management and reconciliation of budgets, and record keeping

· Experience processing scholarship and internship workflows

· Ability to maintain strict confidence; create, compose, and edit written materials; work under pressure; act as a team member; attention to detail; implement broad instructions independently; and prioritize work assignments.
