Position Summary

The University of New Mexico(UNM) Global Education Office is excited to announce an opening for a Digital Media Marketing & Data Coordinator. This individual will collaborate with members of the UNM Global Education Office and the broader university communications and information technology community and will be expected to communicate effectively as a liaison, bridging the capabilities of technology teams and the needs of administrative teams to achieve objectives. The position will develop, support, and coordinate content published on GEO websites, social media, and other marketing platforms and will also provide support in coordinating the function of existing customer information databases and running analytics.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Designs and creates the front and back end of websites, mobile sites, accessibility functionality, and landing pages. Can take designs and bring them to life. Reviews and supports current code and other internal resources to ensure the sites performs as expected. Conducts maintenance checks as needed.
  • Design skills will be complimented with capability in developing websites and web applications using existing content management systems, open source tools, languages, libraries, databases, and current standards-compliant code. Knowledge of PhP, Drupal, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a must and some coding in these languages is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a variety of digital systems such as customer relationship management platforms, video hosting services (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.), social media sites, and other data gathering systems. Must be able and willing to acquire the skills to support existing information data systems (ex: custom online applications backed with a PhP database).
  • Write/edit/revise body content and communications material for final publication.
  • Implement university brand and regulatory standards, with particular emphasis on ensuring appropriate practices regarding protected information and sensitive data.
  • Gather, analyze and produce visually appealing customer information data.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor student employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of directly related full-time professional experience.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and with globally-oriented web material
  • Prior work experience in graphics, layout, scripting, programming and development required
  • Prior experience with database administration practices with some knowledge of a server-side language (e.g., PHP)
  • Prior experience writing public-facing copy
  • Ability to find quick solutions to any issues that may arise.
  • Excellent problem-solving, creative and analytical skills required.
  • Stats analysis/data cleaning experience
  • Great communication skills and a positive attitude is a must.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism
  • Demonstrated understanding of information security best-practices and familiarity with FERPA and GDPR requirements
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing. Thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
