|Working Title||Education Specialist in English|
The UNM-Gallup Campus's Center for Academic Learning (CAL) offers free academic support for all enrolled full-time and part-time UNM-Gallup students. The center provides tutoring services in a variety of disciplines, such as literacy (reading/writing), math and sciences. CAL collaborates closely with faculty to ensure that students meet course and assignment expectations effectively and independently.
CAL has an Education Specialist/English opening. This position provides academic tutoring to a wide variety of individuals, creates and implements tutorial programs that guide and assist students with writing assignments, problem solving, and test preparation. The position provides support with grammar, composition and thesis writing, and writing across the curriculum. The position supervises student tutors and coordinates with English instructors, develops training curricula and materials, and designs outreach and promotional materials for the CAL. The position is expected to collaborate and positively interact with Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences faculty, attend division and English meetings, and assist the English Coordinator with special assignments.
The Education Specialist reports to the Dean of Instructions.
|Conditions of Employment|
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
