Position Summary

TheUniversity of New Mexico College of Education and Human Sciences, Department ofTeacher Education, Educational Leadership and Policy, invites applications for atenure-line Educational Leadership position with a target start date of August2025 (Academic Year 2025-26). Although the positions may commence as early asAugust 2025, the positions shall remain open until filled.

The UNMCollege of Education and Human Sciences, comprised of five academicdepartments, is a future-oriented, dynamic professional school organized toreflect the following values: Advocacy, Building Professional Identities,Collaboration, Building School/University Partnerships, Diversity and SocialJustice, Interdisciplinary Inquiry/Scholarship and Teaching, Learning andLeadership.

The TeacherEducation, Educational Leadership and Policy (TEELP) Department is the largestin the college with the uniqueness of having both undergraduate and graduateeducation and educational leadership programs that address K-12,administration, leadership, and higher education needs together in one academicunit.

New funding from the state ofNew Mexico and the University of New Mexico provides a wonderful opportunityfor an incoming tenure-line Assistant/Associate Professor in EducationalLeadership.

Responsibilities: The tenure-linefaculty will teach master’s and doctoral students in Educational Leadership. Inaccordance with the department’s approved workload policy, tenure-line faculty in the department have a 2/2 teachingload beginning in year 3. In years 1 and 2, tenure-line faculty teach a reducedload of 1/2 or 2/1. Other responsibilities include developing an activeresearch agenda, advising master’s and doctoral students specializing ineducational leadership; chairing and/or serving on master’s exams, theses, anddoctoral dissertation committees; serving on department and universitycommittees; contributing to program partnerships and initiatives.

Expectationswill be commensurate with the rank sought (Assistant, Associate).

Qualifications

Minimumrequirements:

· Earned doctorate from an accredited university in Educational Leadership, or a closely related field). All requirements for the doctorate must have been completed by the time of the start date of the appointment.

· Minimum of three years of successful experience as a PK-20 leader (e.g., principal, assistant principal, superintendent, director, assistant director).

· Evidence of research in the area of Educational Leadership.

Preferred requirements:

· Minimum of five (5)years of successful experience as a PK-20 leader (e.g., principal, assistantprincipal, superintendent, director, assistant director)

· Evidence ofexcellence or potential for excellence in teaching courses in EducationalLeadership

· Evidence ofexcellence or potential for excellence in research in Educational Leadership

· Experience with a variety of course delivery methods

· Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.

· Knowledge of or experience teaching quantitative and/or qualitative research methods

· Experience with or knowledge of education in urban and/or rural and Indigenous settings

· Experience in writing and/or analyzing educational policy
