UNM Taos seeks an Albuquerque based Veteranto serve as a full time Educational Site Coordinator for the Veterans UpwardBound (VUB) Program.

VUB providesindividualized attention to eligible veterans as they transition from themilitary into academic settings. The program is the only one of its kind in theState of New Mexico and welcomes veterans interested in attending academicprograms at any college, university or technical school. Our new VUBEducation Site Coordinator will be mission driven with an ability to plan andimplement community outreach projects. Experience with advising adults, working with disadvantaged populationsand/or in higher education systems such as college admission, academic orfinancial aid programs preferred.

  1. Implements VUB's curriculumschedule; arranges classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical facilities;identifies, recruits, and orients local instructors, tutorial staff, andinstructional support personnel as appropriate.
  2. Assists students withregistration, financial aid, and access to University services (any university,college or technical school), as required.
  3. Provides on-site support forstudents, community agencies, instructors and tutors, as required; arrangestutor training sessions, and facilitates all day-to-day routine and non-routineprogram needs as appropriate.
  4. Distributes and collects VUBprogram evaluation materials from students, instructors, tutors, and communityparticipants as appropriate to VUB program and related projects.
  5. Interacts with VUB central programadministration to facilitate the curriculum needs of students; connectsstudents with VUB, colleges and community resources, and assists students withtechnical, personal, and/or academic issues as appropriate.
  6. Arranges and facilitates studentrecruitment and orientation activities for VUB.
  7. Represents and markets the VUBprogram to the target community/region; serves as a resource to the communityon information on VUB-related activities and issues.
  8. Knowledge of veteran’s services in Albuquerque arerequired

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Honorably discharged veteran
  2. Knowledge of education benefits, services and resources preferably for veterans
  3. Experience planning and implementing advising sessions, workshops and educational programs
  4. Knowledge of assessment and curriculum design, working with disadvantaged populations and/or in higher education systems such as college admission, academic or financial aid programs
  5. Experience with computer software and the use oftechnology
