The Vice Chancellor for Diversity/Chief Diversity Officer is seeking a professional and dynamic individual to fill the position of Executive Assistant. OfDEI promotes inclusivity and diversity throughout the UNM Health Sciences Center and engages communities across New Mexico to advance health equity through programs and sustainable, collaborative partnerships. OfDEI is responsible for a full panoply of programs addressing faculty diversity, linguistic and cultural competence, K-20 educational pipeline, research data and analyses, family involvement/community engagement, and leadership on issues of inclusion and equity. This position directly reports to the Vice Chancellor for Diversity/Chief Diversity Officer. The Vice Chancellor for Diversity provides leadership to conceptualize, define, develop, assess, nurture and cultivate diversity, inclusion and equity as both an HSC and UNM Health System institutional identity and resource resulting in widespread educational benefits and measurable health and healthcare value.

This person will be the primary point of contact for both internal and external constituencies on any matter directed to the Vice Chancellor and will independently research and prioritize incoming issues to determine appropriate course of action, referral and/or response. The Executive Assistant will manage a variety of special projects with institutional, community, or national/international impact.

Researches, prioritizes, and performs follow-up on multiple issues and concerns addressed to the office principal, including those of a sensitive and/or confidential nature. May be required to configure and manage databases, compile and prepare reports for internal leadership and external entities. Creates and/or maintains systems for organization of information and data related to Vice Chancellor matters, and produces a range of complex, well-written educational, informational, and promotional presentations, and other materials for the Vice Chancellor.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience providing high-level support to leadership.
  • Experience working in healthcare and/or education service environments.
  • Effective organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to effectively interact with members of executive and senior leadership, faculty, staff, community leaders, governmental bodies, and funding agencies.
  • Works with multiple technologies such as Microsoft Office, Prezi, Go To Meeting, Dropbox, Excel, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Outlook.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Ability to synthesize substantial amounts of information and produce concise and comprehensive reports.
  • Project management skills
