Position Summary | The Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) at the University of New Mexico (UNM) invites applications for a team player to fill a Facilities Services Technician vacancy. CHTM is an internationally recognized center of excellence that boasts 24 Research/Teaching laboratories that provide outstanding scientific and technical expertise and cutting-edge instrumentation and facilities, including a fully equipped 6,000 SF cleanroom. This is a developmental position that recruits at Grade 07 with promotion potential to Grade 11. On-the-job, informal, and formal training for laboratory-related tasks will be provided for developmental purposes. The Facilities Services Technician is responsible for scheduling and performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs on electrical and mechanical systems throughout the facility and will assist and receive instruction from the Master Electrician and Facility Manager. Manages preventive and corrective maintenance through a computerized maintenance management system (TMA). Mechanical systems in our facility include a boiler, a chilled water plant, 5 air handlers, a cleanroom, a HEPA filtration system, and a scrubber system. Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
