Position Summary

TheUniversity of New Mexico’s Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) has acouple of exciting opportunities for two experienced and professionalindividuals to join our Transportation Division. We are seekingapplications from energetic and customer service-oriented transportationprofessionals for the two positions of Field Supervisor, BusServices.

Eachyear, UNM PATS supports the education, research, and service missions ofthe University by providing over 1.8 million rides to students, staff,faculty, and visitors.

This position will require:
· Supervisionand coordination of all day-to-day activities of a complete shift of busdrivers assigned to operate multiple bus routes during and/or after normaluniversity business hours.
· Coordinationof transportation support for special events held in university facilitiesand venues, as appropriate; and driving a shuttle bus when required.

Thesepositions are required to work the evening shift but will also work overtime,and occasional weekend hours if coverage is needed. Shifts are assigned based on business needsas coverage hours for UNM Transportation are 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. M-F withadditional special events coverage in the evenings and on weekends.
Regular Summer hours are M-F from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm with required event and weekends.
Regular Fall and Spring hours for these positions are M-F from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm and including required events and weekends. On non-event Fridays, Friday hours are modified to 11:00 am to 7:30 pm

Conditions of Employment
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain a Valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • As a CDL driver, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must obtain passenger endorsement to CDL within 90 days from date of hire.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferences for thisposition include:

-Direct experience supervising, leading, coaching,bus drivers in a transportation environment.
-At least (5) years of experience operating large buses (minimum 40 passengers)
-At least (5) years of experience leading and supervising 10 or more personnel in a transportation operation or at least (5) years of progressive experience leading and supervising 10 or more personnel
-Direct experience supervising employees represented by collective bargaining agreements
-Ability to maintain confidentiality along with excellent judgment and discretion at all times
-Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
-A transportation safety certification
-Experience providing training to CDL drivers
-Experience leading, motivating, and mentoring large teams
-Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills and a positive/helpful attitude
-Exceptional oral and written communication skills, based on cover letter submitted with application
-Experience with complex, operational resource allocation and scheduling
-Experience with performance management, to include coaching, discipline, and performance reviews
