Position Summary

Financial Aid Officer needed to provideguidance to students and their families on college funding opportunities in afast paced multicultural setting.

This position will include assistingstudents and families in applying for funding opportunities, processing andawarding financial aid, coordinating internal scholarship opportunities, certifyingVeteran’s education benefits as the designated Veteran’s Certifying Officialfor UNM-Taos, and providing financial literacy opportunities as needed.

Conditions of Employment
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred QualificationsKnowledge and understanding of Higher Education and educational funding opportunities.

Knowledge and understanding of the Financial Aid process in a Higher Ed setting.

Advanced skills in consulting and advising

Advanced Skills in verbal and written communication as demonstrated in cover letter

Experience with financial literacy

Advanced customer service skills.

Knowledge of the veteran education benefits certification process.

Knowledge of the scholarship process in a higher educati
on setting
