The UNM Student Financial Aid Office seeks a dynamic and creative professional interested in working as part of the department’s Scholarship Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated professional to join a progressive Financial Aid team.
Reporting to the Financial Aid Manager, the Financial Aid Officer is a key member of the Scholarship team and will work in partnership with the Funds Management Team, staff in the Division of Enrollment Management and colleagues throughout the university system.
The Financial Aid Officer is responsible for working as a member of a team to ensure daily Scholarship operational goals are met. The Financial Aid Officer provides support in awarding aid and utilizes strategies to maximize the use of merit aid in support of institutional goals while following internal checks and balances to allow for efficient awarding and disbursement of aid to students.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success and a minimum of one year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent oral, written, and presentation skills; sensitivity to cultural issues; competency for analyzing processes; understanding of the innovative uses of technology in a higher education setting. The Financial Aid Officer must be highly organized, creative, energetic, and possess a strong commitment to superior customer services and an understanding of the importance of financial aid in recruitment and retention.
|Conditions of Employment|
High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Banner experience a plus
