TheUNM Valencia campus is seeking a part-time Group Fitness Instructor who willwork under general supervision to schedule and provide fitness assessments forstudents, staff, faculty, and community members. This individual will developindividual personal training programs and supervise users with their programs.Will also be responsible for evaluating clientele questionnaires and physiologicaldata to determine appropriate exercise and activity programs. Works with andadvises program clientele in the evaluation of individual health and fitness,and in the establishment of fitness goals and objectives, plus servers asa source of advice and support for users in their exercise program.
Theperson will assist with event planning processes, campus and community outreachwellness promotion activities, sponsorship of the wellness club, facilitymanagement, and supervision of student employees. Ensures proper care in theuse and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvementof workplace safety and environmental practices. Performs miscellaneousjob related duties as assigned.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in ruralValencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-yearbranch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a communitycollege in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academictransfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic Education, andDual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit students persemester.
|Conditions of Employment|
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Recognized competency in field of instructional expertise. May require technical certification dependent on the instructional specialty (AFAA, ACE, NETA, NASM, etc.).
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
