Position Summary

The Group Sales Representative is responsible for generating and managing event sales opportunities for the University of New Mexico’s Student Union Building (SUB). This position develops and maintains strong relationships with existing customers, identifies opportunities to increase revenue, and ensures event details are accurately documented and communicated for successful service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responds promptly to event sales inquiries, calls, and requests, within the same business day.
  •  Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing customers to encourage repeat business and generate future bookings.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for small business 0-50 guests and Chartered Student Organizations.
  • Manages the sales process and operational details for booked events, including preparing proposals, developing contracts, documenting event requirements, and maintaining client correspondence.
  • Works closely with operations and other internal teams to coordinate logistics and ensure events meet client expectations.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and provides exceptional customer service throughout the sales and event experience.
  • Interacts with guests and clients to obtain feedback regarding product quality, service, and overall event experience.
  • Represents the Student Union Building positively and professionally in all customer and business interactions.
  • Achieves individual sales goals and contributes to overall departmental revenue objectives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in hotel sales, hospitality, event sales, guest services, business development, or a related sales field.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and business development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain productive customer relationships.
  • A results-oriented approach with the ability to meet or exceed sales and revenue goals.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.

 

Additional RequirementsWork schedule requirement Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM with flexibility on the weekends if needed.
