The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Autism Programs at the CDD has long supported families to respond to the needs of other family members based upon their lived experiences with a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). As part of a University Center of Excellence, we subscribe to a family centered approach in all of our work. This position, with preference for a parent, will support the dissemination of specialized information and resources as well as advocacy that is driven by the needs of families of children with ASD in New Mexico. In addition, the successful candidate will have a unique role in the implementation of training and support for family peer support workers across the state in order to insure that community based advocacy and supports are available for all New Mexicans.
Occasional travel is required.
|Conditions of Employment|
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Parent of an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Certified Family Peer Support Worker, or willing to take the training and exam within 12 months.
Graduate of a leadership advocacy program such as Partners in Policymaking or similar.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills both verbal and written.
