Position Summary

Under limited supervision, theFitness-Focused Health Education Consultant provides specialized education,training, and technical coordination within critical health and wellness areas,emphasizing physical fitness. This role supports professional provider groups,teachers, classroom personnel by assessing needs, designing, developing, anddelivering workshops, informational materials, and fitness-based programs. Theconsultant serves as an independent resource for UNM staff, faculty, andeducators, offering guidance on fitness education methods, exercise techniques,and wellness strategies.

The Human Resources Benefits &Employee Wellness department is seeking a Health Education Consultant. Benefits& Employee Wellness is a vital part of the Human Resources group and thesuccessful candidate will need the ability to assist our department in buildingrelationships at a local level for wellness support. The candidate will work asa wellness ambassador while building and using educator creativity to supportour populations well-being in a hybridworking environment. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to provideindependent advice and guidance to administrative staff, faculty and healthcare professionals within an area of expertise.
  • Knowledge andunderstanding of needs assessment principles, processes, and techniques.
  • Stronginterpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively witha wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge andunderstanding of the therapeutic and/or development needs of the specifiedclient population.
  • Knowledge ofcommunity health programs and/or programs associated with the area ofspecialty.
  • Professionalskills and expertise in a specified therapeutic and/or educational field.
  • Skill inorganizing resources, establishing priorities, and working efficiently.
  • Ability to create,compose, and edit written materials.
  • Knowledge ofavailable community clinical and educational resources within area ofspecialty.
  • Ability to developand present educational programs, courses and/or workshops orally and/or in avariety of formats.

  • May require discipline-specific licensure and/or professional certification, as specified by the department in the preferences.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
