Position SummaryUnder general supervision, plans, implements, and evaluates CHILE Plus, a SNAP-Ed funded nutrition and physical activity education program for preschool-age children and their families enrolled in Head Start and licensed childcare centers. The person in this position will contribute content expertise to the multidisciplinary CHILE Plus team, deliver evidence-based nutrition and physical activity professional development training to adult early care and education staff, and work with community partners (e.g. retail food stores, health care clinics) to disseminate consistent nutrition and physical activity messages. This position will deliver training in-person, as well as develop and deliver content for our online learning system. Degree should be in Education, Health Education, Nutrition, Exercise Science, Public Health, or similar field. Must be willing to travel to communities throughout New Mexico and have a valid New Mexico driver’s license. Note that this position requires some Saturdays and overnight stays in partner communities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, and designs health education and training programs, including preparation, facilitation, and follow-up.
  • Evaluates programs; performs research on relevant topics, and develops and/or revises curriculum modules and/or presentation materials as appropriate.
  • Presents lectures and training to groups and/or individuals, as appropriate.
  • Coordinates the activities of consultants, agencies, and other providers involved in specific programs.
  • Participates in the development of marketing and promotional goals and strategies, as appropriate; may write grant proposals and seek funding for programs.
  • Serves as a point of contact in area of expertise.
  • Prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials.
  • May lead, guide, and train staff/student employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
  • Maintains current knowledge base on specific health issues, particularly in area of expertise.
  • May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
