The Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Preventive Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a term HS Associate Scientist 3 for the Collaboration Leading to Addiction Treatment and Recovery from Other Stresses (CLARO) study, which is developing and implementing a collaborative care model of treatment within primary care clinics to address opioid use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders. This position will lead the development, implementation, and coordination of the clinical intervention within 11 primary care clinics across New Mexico.
This position will lead the development of the protocol for the care management intervention and the training, working with a diverse team of researchers located at UNM, the RAND Corporation, and clinical providers from the research sites. This involves adapting and developing training and procedural materials and conducting site trainings. This will involve preliminary data gathering to tailor the intervention protocol to New Mexico primary care settings, and then working directly with the site clinical staff to train staff on how to implement the protocol. Once implementation has begun this position will lead a team of behavioral professionals to provide technical assistance on weekly phone calls, conduct regular evaluation visits at the clinics and provide additional technical assistance as needed. This position will also participate in regular study meeting with the larger study team providing leadership on the implementation of the clinical intervention.
A successful candidate should have research and clinical experience, and a thorough knowledge of implementing research studies. Experience working in rural areas is desired, as well as within the fields of primary care, mental health, and/or addiction services. Experience developing and delivering trainings is also desired. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups. This position requires the ability to work independently with limited supervision and to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment. Travel to sites located in Grants, Hidalgo, Santa Fe, Bernalillo and Valencia counties is required.
Once the study intervention is concluded this position will help to lead dissemination of the clinical implementation results through presentations and manuscripts.

Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
