The Department of Neurosciences seeks a Health Sciences Research Tech 2 to perform research on the effect of alcohol on neuronal circuits and will involve working with laboratory animals. Techniques to be used include immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, slice electrophysiology, and behavioral assessments.
The is a term appointment with a term end date 1 year from date of hire; continuance beyond that date is subject to the Department's operational needs as outlined in UBPPM #3200, Employee Classifications, click here.
|Conditions of Employment|
High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
· B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Psychology
· Biomedical laboratory research, including techniques such as immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, and/or behavioral experiments.
· Biochemical calculations (e.g., molarity) and preparation of solutions
· Working with laboratory animals, particularly rats
· Making research presentations (i.e. a poster presentations) or publications (including abstracts)
