Requisition IDreq30167
Working TitleHS Research Tech 2
Position Grade09
Position Summary

A full-time position is available for a research technician to join the Endicott laboratory being established in September 2024. The lab’s multi-disciplinary research program will use a combination of quantitative proteomics, biochemistry, microscopy, and cell biology to address fundamental questions pertaining to chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA). CMA is a selective form of lysosomal proteolysis, which through selective degradation of rate-limiting enzymes, regulates essential metabolic processes.

The successful applicant will work under the general direction of a junior faculty member. The primary responsibilities will be conducting experiments in molecular biology and biochemistry. The applicant should have a familiarity with most basic laboratory techniques such as preparing DNA, RNA, and protein extracts from cells and mouse tissues, running DNA and protein gels, setting up PCR reactions, making solutions, and performing cell culture. The ideal applicant should be able to perform advanced techniques in cell culture, including gene knockdowns, overexpression, and drug does curves. The candidate will be expected to learn, develop, and perform new experimental protocols, depending on the needs of the lab.

The successful candidate must have good attention to detail, work effectively within a small and highly motivated team, respond well to instructions, and maintain an organized and clean work environment.

Other responsibilities will include data analysis, making figures, and PowerPoint presentations. The successful applicant will maintain detailed records pertaining to an inventory of valuable samples and laboratory supplies, and will be expected to participate in making decisions on experimental design, to discuss options for troubleshooting, and to work productively with little supervision.
