Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division is looking for a HS Research Tech 2. The Research Tech will help to oversee clinical trials for pediatric oncology, hematology, hemophilia, including multi-site trials.

The Research Tech will:

  • Assist in clinic prep for patients on research studies, in terms of ordering labs, diagnostic tests based on protocol
  • Complete post clinic follow up, obtain the lab and diagnostic test results and record in patient research charts
  • Assist the research team collecting and input data in the electronic research database
  • Sample collection, processing and shipping

Conditions of Employment
  • For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Annual TB testing may be required if working in a patient care area.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent experience with data abstraction from medical charts
  • Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, various databases including Cerner/Power Chart
  • Recent experience preparing, processing and shipping of patient specimens
  • Medical terminology and translation to lay terminology
  • Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks as required
  • Ability to work with a multi-faceted team to accomplish tasks as required
