Position Summary

The Division of Neonatology is recruiting for a HS Research Tech 2. This position is for a person with expertise in animal handling and behavioral testing. The person will be responsible for care of laboratory animals, performing surgeries, conducting behavioral tests, administering pharmacotherapies, collecting tissue, histology, MRI analysis and additional analyses such as Western blotting. Data entry and complete record keeping will be required.

Conditions of Employment
  • For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Annual TB testing may be required if working in a patient care area.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with animal handling
  • Experience with basic lab skills such as pipetting, Western blotting and qPCR
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel related to data entry and ability to maintain complete and updated records
  • Willingness to learn new skills, such as MRI analysis and animal surgeries
