Position Summary

The Community and Environmental Health Program at the College of Pharmacy is looking for a highly motivated individual to participate in a unique research opportunity. The successful applicant will work on the Navajo Reservation and will travel within New Mexico and Arizona, preferably within the Chinle or Tuba City area. The position will require travel between participating clinical facilities and visits to participant's homes. They will work independently to obtain research data through interviews with participants, administration of childhood developmental screening tools, medical record reviews and will be responsible for contacting study participants to schedule appointments for data collection, and for independently logging, charting and recording data using a secure data management system.

They will coordinate research efforts with team members from the NIH-Environmental Influences of Child Health Outcome (ECHO) funded Navajo Birth Cohort study (NBCS/ECHO) program, affiliated Indian Health Services (IHS), and the Navajo Nation Department of Health (NNDOH), and participate in outreach and recruitment activities for the NBCS/ECHO project.

Funding available through 06/30/2018 continuance beyond that date is subject to department's operational needs as outlined in UAPPM #3200, Employee Classifications.

The successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.

For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous Research Experience is highly recommended

· Navajo language skills

· Knowledge of research methods or practices and conducting interviews

· Experience in health care, public health education or providing patient care.

· Experience working with community based health care

· Certified Phlebotomist

· Experience with medical coding and/or medical record abstraction
