Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, College of Nursing is seeking a dedicated, hard-working, detail- oriented individual for an Instructional Designer position to assist faculty in instructional design and on-line learning. The position will function in the fast-paced environment of the College’s Information Technology Group. Strong skills in instructional design for the implementation of online course content within a Learning Management System (LMS) are essential for this position. The successful candidate will collaborate with College of Nursing faculty to support the design and development of online and hybrid courses.

The ability to effectively communicate (written and verbally) technical issues with non-technical users is critical. Strong background in educational best practices is desired i.e., instructional design and online course development. Demonstrate efficient and effective strategies to assist faculty, staff, and students to resolve hardware, software, and networking/communication problems. Must have the ability to adapt and work effectively in a diverse work environment. This individual may be involved in special projects that support the mission of the College of Nursing.

Job Duties & Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide curricular support in the development, design and delivery of online course content
  • Develop and support multimedia content for online consumption
  • Analyze and support online Learning Management Systems (LMS) for student and faculty needs
  • Flexible schedule expected: Some work conducted outside business hours

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Blackboard or other Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Master’s degree in instructional design or educational technology
  • Experience with Zoom or other web collaboration tools
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
