The University of New Mexico Information Technologies Office of the CIO seeks an Information Technology Officer to oversee systems and solutions that support student service programs within Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and the Global Education Office.
The incumbent will work with area leadership and UNM IT governance to ensure that specialized applications and workflows meet functional requirements and comply with state and federal regulations as defined in UNM policy.
Additionally the IT Officer (ITO) will make sure that UNM’s commitment to standards-based computing and IT Service Management (ITSM) best practices are effectively integrated into area operations.
This position is foundational to the UNM IT Campus Outreach program. The matrixed reporting structure integrates operational oversight from area administration and planning/coordination from the office of the CIO. This strategy ensures consistent access to the full range of expertise and technology solutions available to campus. Moreover it integrates area IT services into a support structure that is focused on customer experience.
Primary duties include: supervising staff and students, hands-on problem solving, ensuring that IT investments are well informed and strategic, business relationship management with service owners on campus and off-site vendors, project planning/oversight and playing an active role in area and campus-wide governance.
|Conditions of Employment|
Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
1. Experience working with multiple stakeholders across organizational units to support a range of IT services.
2. Experience managing systems that support student/employee recruitment, enrollment, engagement and success.
3. Experience working with technicians and administration to ensure operational compliance with FERPA, HIPAA and institutional policy.
4. Skill solving data mysteries embedded in complex technical solutions within a large university enterprise.
5. Ability to communicate complex information to managers and leadership in a timely structured manner.
