OCA is looking for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technician. Task will include but not limited to:

  • Collecting and managing data: Using GPS software, mobile devices, and GIS software like Esri ArcGISPro. GIS technicians gather, digitize, and manage spatial data.
  • Creating and updating databases: GIS technicians design and develop databases to store and organize large amounts of data. They also work with clients and scientists to update GIS databases.

  • Analyzing data: GIS technicians analyze data records and use GIS tools to research and analyze data. They also work to understand how geographical elements relate to each other.
  • Plotting maps: GIS technicians use GIS tools to plot maps for projects.
  • Providing technical support: GIS technicians provide technical support and training to staff.
  • Researching and verifying geographic data: GIS technicians collect details from land surveys, process satellite images, and audit GIS data for quality and consistency.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors in GIS related studies
  • Experience in GIS mapping, equipment, and GPS data collection
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS
