Position Summary

The UNM Health and Health Sciences IT Department is looking for a full-time, experienced IT Support Tech 2 within the Technology Support group, that will provide IT support to specific departments with executive level focus. Specifically, this position will provide in person IT support to the Health Sciences Office of the Vice President. They will cover office locations on the UNM North Campus, a location that is just north of campus, as well as those working remotely.  This position works 100% on site.

Under indirect supervision, this position is primarily concerned with providing direct IT support to the faculty and staff in the Office of Vice President on the UNM North Campus.  They will also provide in person customer support at the IT Service desk, develop documentation of technology issues, troubleshooting and resolution of both Apple MacOS and Microsoft Windows hardware and software components, and assisting end users with their understanding of these components.

Additionaltasks include Active Directory account management, workstation troubleshooting,diagnosis, hardware repair, workstation image deployment, encryption services,conference room AV support, as well as software support. The ideal candidatefor this position should have a strong customer service background, experiencein workstation troubleshooting(both over phone and in person), utilizing IT ticketing software, the abilityto manage and notate technical appointments and processes, and experiencetranslating intermediate technical knowledge into end users training, aseducation of end users is needed daily.

The successful applicant willwork closely with the other health sciences IT groups in support ofenterprise-wide shared services.  Allmembers of the Technology Support group must demonstrate a commitment toconsistently providing responsive, high quality customer service to allcustomers

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing outstanding customer service
  • Ability to communicate intermediate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of PC
  • Experience performing moderately complex preventive maintenance on systems software, applications, hardware, networking and communications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Knowledge of a wide range of computer systems software, applications, hardware, networking and communication
  • Knowledge and support of both Windows and MacOS computers, tablets and phones
  • Proficiency with Active Directory Account Management
  • Experience providing Windows and MacOS Workstation and Printer Support
  • Experience with conference Room AV Support
