Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Information Technologies (IT) Workstation Management (WSM) group is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter, flexible and resourceful IT Support Tech. Under minimal supervision, this position will be responsible for supporting the day to day operations for our workstation management customers. In addition, this position will be required to support University Provost offices, EVP offices, University House, and President’s offices. The preferred candidate will work alongside a specialized team of technical professionals by providing Apple and Windows remote and desk-side support to deliver IT services and basic troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a centrally managed IT department, as well as a working knowledge of IT service desk support; exceptional communication skills, an understanding of IT system management best practices and a well-developed sense of customer service for the values, practices and procedures found in an higher-education environment.


  1. Assists other Support Techs on various projects and tasks.
  2. Documents site-specific system information and processes.
  3. Maintains current working knowledge with respect to relevant technologies, equipment, and/or systems.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

  1. Ability to configure, and install Microsoft operating systems, and applications
  2. Ability to configure, and install Apple operating systems, and applications
  3. Ability to bring technical issues and tasks down to user lever of understanding
  4. Solid understanding of basic technical troubleshooting
  5. Previous work experience in a central IT ecosystem.
