Position Summary

UNM Residence Life and Student Housing is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic individual to serve as Lead Facilities Services Technician for Main Campus Housing or SFH.

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide excellent customer service to on-campus residents
  • Leads the work of up to 5 Facility Service Technicians and technical staff in completing daily work orders and preventative maintenance
  • Routinely inspects public areas and periodically inspects residential areas for safety and public perception of the facilities
  • Perform non-technical repairs including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, concrete finishing, painting, and landscaping
  • Manage and inventory parts and supplies
  • Ensure the efficient completion of work orders within the TMA Work Order Management System
  • Delegate tasks, provide feedback, and foster a positive and cooperative work environment for employees in supporting roles

May require after-hours or weekend work, including on-call responsibilities for non-standard emergencies.

As the Lead Facilities Technician, the successful candidate to this position will play an integral part in providing a unique on-campus living experience for students.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to perform non-technical repairs such as non-technical plumbing, electricity, HVAC, painting, landscaping, carpentry, and concrete finishing
  • Ability to diagnose technical issues and refer to outside contractors when unable to perform repair
  • Coordinating external vendor and contractor activities related to maintenance, repairs and custodial work
  • Working within a multi-unit residential facility such as an apartment complex or university housing
  • Ability to interpret and apply University, State of New Mexico, and/or Federal regulations, policies and procedures, as appropriate
