POSITION: 0.5 FTE Lecturer of Certified Nursing Assistant and Personal Care Assistant (CNA and PCA) in the Applied Science Department. Appointment begins January 13, 2020. All Lecturer appointments at UNM provide for promotional and multi-year contract opportunities. Additionally, after six years of service with satisfactory performance reviews, this lecturer appointment may include a one-time election to convert to a probationary, tenure-track appointment subject to the approval of the chair, dean and provost. If this one-time option is not exercised, the lecturer appointment remains in place and retains eligibility to pursue regular lecturer promotion and multi-year contract opportunities.
The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, the Los Alamos Campus offers academic transfer courses, as well as vocational and technical courses to the citizens of Los Alamos County, Sandoval County, and northern New Mexico. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 1,100 credit students each semester. The campus is located approximately 90 miles northwest of Albuquerque, NM.
SALARY: Base salary for 1.0 FTE is $43,000-$47,000 for a nine-month faculty position, depending on qualifications. This position is 0.5 FTE; the nine-month salary will be $21,500-$23,500. Summer teaching and additional fall and spring teaching load is possible and optional with additional compensation. An excellent package of benefits is provided.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide 15 credit hours of classroom instruction per academic year in the area of CNA and PCA
· Post and maintain office hours
· Maintain attendance and keep accurate student records
· Advise students on their academic progress
· Participate in faculty and college committees, curriculum development initiatives, outcomes assessment
· Participate in professional development activities directly related to the professional field of expertise, to teaching and classroom technologies
· Participate in department projects and other areas of service and scholarship
· Participate in initiatives related to grant awards, as applicable
· Perform other duties consistent with the role of community college faculty
