Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is acceptingapplications for Lecturer II or III in Criminal Justice, afull-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position. The position begins August 10,2026. For best consideration, all application documents must be received byFebruary 16, 2026, however, the positions will remain open until filled.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, theUniversity of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of theUniversity of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, ValenciaCampus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfercourses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The facultyand staff serve a student body of approximately 2,500 each semester.

Salary: Base salary for the position is $51,000. Anexcellent package of benefits is provided. Summer teaching is available, butnot required, not to exceed 3/9ths of base salary.

Summary of duties and responsibilities:
Provide 27 credit hoursof classroom instruction across the academic year (fall and spring semesters)in Criminal Justice or related subjects based on the applicant’s qualificationsand education. Responsibilities include maintaining attendance, scholastic, andstudent records, as well as posting and maintaining office hours as per UNMValencia Campus policy. Also, there is expected participation in the lecturerpromotion committee, as well as other college committees, curriculumdevelopment initiatives, outcomes assessment, professional development(directly related to teaching field), classroom technology training,departmental projects, and other areas of service and scholarship asappropriate. This position will also liaise with the community on mattersrelated to the Criminal Justice program and work to promote and grow theprogram.

Special Instructions to Applicants: If selected for aninterview, applicant should be prepared to present a teaching demonstration(subject matter to be announced and based on the candidate’s area ofexpertise).   
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.
  • At least one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience teaching criminal justice at a two-year or community college
  • Experience working with educational and community partners, such as local law enforcement agencies
  • Experience building and growing new programs
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate anunderstanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the successof the university's mission to serve local and global communities
