Position Summary

The Health Sciences Division andProgram of Nursing at UNM-Valencia is accepting applications for a Lecturer II or III in Nursing at UNM-Valencia. Thisposting is for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position. Theposition begins August 11, 2025.
Located about 30 miles south ofAlbuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-ValenciaCampus is a two-year branch community college associated with the University ofNew Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offersvocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to thecitizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff servea student body of approximately 2,000 each semester.

Salary: Base salary for this nine-month facultyposition is $65,000. Summer teaching is possible if needed, and optional, withadditional compensation. Office space and computerhardware and software will be provided, as well as an excellent packageof benefits.

Summary of duties and responsibilities: Dutieswill include teaching the ADN program core curriculum, which includesscheduling courses and supervising labs as needed. Collects and analyzes dataregarding student progress. Acts as a clinical resource and subject matterexpert for the advisement of all program students. Assists in the recruitment,hiring and evaluation of faculty as well as recruiting students. Coordinatesand conducts clinical training to include coordinating sites, documentation andstudent preparation. Collects and analyzes data regarding student progress andcertification; and performs related duties as assigned. Will work withlow-income, first generation, minority students, disabled students, studentswith diverse backgrounds, and veterans. Responsibilities also includemaintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting andmaintaining office hours, participating in college committees, curriculumdevelopment, outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related toteaching field), departmental projects, and community service.

If selected for an on-campus interview,applicant must be prepared to present official transcripts and a teachingdemonstration (subject matter to be announced). We will offerreimbursement for travel expenses to all candidates who are invited to UNMValencia campus, who accept the offer of an interview, and who must incurlong-distance travel expenses. The reimbursement for travel will follow UNMpolicy and will be no more than $1000.




Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • One year of teaching experience at a post-secondary institution
  • Current RN license to practice Nursing in New Mexico or a valid compact license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Nursing
  • Experience in an ADN Nursing Program
  • Strong commitment to teaching, scholarly activities and professional service
  • Experience with teaching in the online environment
  • Current CPR certification
  • Clinical experience within the past five years
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
