Position Summary

UNM Health Sciences Library seeks an independent thinking and versatile employee to serve as the Library Services Coordinator for its Resources, Archives and Discovery (RAD) unit. The Library Services Coordinator performs a range of complex and specialized library tasks requiring a high-level of professional expertise, excellent attention to detail, strong communications skills and a desire to work behind the scenes of an academic library. The Library services Coordinator reports to the Library Technical Services Manager.

Duties include:

  • Manages HSLIC’s course reserves for HSC academic programs.
  • Performs administrative duties for electronic journals and databases including receiving invoices, tracking change notifications, cancellations, and ceased or new titles.
  • Assists with renewal processes as directed by Resource Management Librarian.
  • Enters orders in library catalog as provided by Resource Management Librarian.
  • Receives print journals and makes claims as needed.
  • Gathers annual usage statistics for library resources.
  • Communicates with publishers and library vendors as needed.
  • Assists with shelf management projects; may take a lead in special projects including the development of deadlines, objectives, workflow and operational procedures, as needed.
  • Manages accounts in library’s management system (Springshare).
  • Creates or participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Assists in troubleshooting technical or linking issues with library resources.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience performing similar tasks and job duties in an academic library.
  2. Graduate degree in library science or other related fields (business management, etc.).
  3. Experience with library records.
  4. Experience performing inventory and participating in shift projects.
  5. Experience processing new library materials.
  6. Experience preparing and processing materials for course reserves.
  7. Familiarity with UNM purchasing processes.
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
