Position Summary

UNM Facilities Management(FM) has a great opportunity for a team oriented individual to join our Groundsand Landscaping team as a Light Equipment Operator. The ideal candidate forthis position will have a personal and professional integrity, be highlyorganized, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, anddemonstrate a strong commitment to customer service. In addition, he/she will operate, performinspections, and/or routine maintenance on various equipment includingforklifts, bobcats, delivery trucks, small tractors, and sweepers in theperformance of materials moving, trash removal, and other similar activities.

FM is responsible forthe care and upkeep of the physical campus and built environment. Totaling morethan 12 million square feet of interior space and 680 acres of land.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the following:

  • Operating forklifts, skid steer loaders, and sweepers
  • Basic vehicle inspections and maintenance
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Using hand and power tools applicable to the trade
  • Safety procedures and proper use of vehicles, equipment and hand tools
