Position SummaryFM-Area 3 has a great internal opportunity foradvancement as a Mater HVAC Tech. The qualified candidate will lead, trouble-shootand make repair efforts on commercial grade heating, ventilating, and airconditioning (HVAC) systems and multi-zone systems that incorporate pneumatic,electronic, and/or programmable logic controls. This position is alsoresponsible to create drawings or plans for HVAC modifications, and leads theinstallation of components that require controls programming and linkage to thecampus central control system.

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Must maintain certification status.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Possession of a current New Mexico Journeyman's refrigeration Licenses(JR) and an EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification and one other current HVAC related New Mexico license .

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairinglow pressure steam heat exchangers in commercial/industrial buildings.
  • Experience maintaining hot water heatingboilers and A/C chillers.
  • Experience troubleshooting Industrialventilation systems including make-up air and exhaust systems for research fumehoods.
  • Workingknowledge and experience of Building Automation Systems such as Delta, ALC, WebTalk, I-Net etc.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting,repairing, and replacing pneumatic and direct digital controls on largecommercial air handlers.
  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting andadjusting set points using remote computer links.
  • Experience with maintaining accuratepreventive and corrective maintenance records in portable recording device(iPad).
  • Experience in leading lower leveltechnicians performing complex repairs.
  • Experience in providing structuredtraining for lower level technicians.
  • ExcellentProblem Solving & Communication Skills.
