The Accounting Manager performs under the direction of the Associate Controller, plans and oversees the daily operations of the department. This person coordinates the monthly and quarterly tasks of the Unrestricted Accounting staff ensuring each are completed in a timely basis. Works closely with other UNM core offices and HSC departments to answer questions and offer assistance in accounting processes, policies and procedures. Under limited direction, recommends, implements, and controls accounting policies and procedures, and coordinates and operates accounting, taxation, data control, accounts payable, and may serve on university planning and policy-making committees. This person oversees the completion of reviews and reconciliations of various financial reports. Oversees hiring, training and development of accounting staff along with participating in the education efforts of HSC community regarding accounting policies and guidelines.
|Conditions of Employment|
Bachelor's degree successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
|Preferred Qualifications||Experience with inter-companyacademic health center/system agreements, financial analysis, transactions,billing, reconciling/preparing inter-company elimination schedules.|
Experience using BannerNon-Student AR, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing aging andpreparing bad debt JVs.
Ability to analyze, research andinterpret complex financial reports and transactions, and prepare financialstatements and/or projections.
Familiar with core office dailyoperations, year-end close processes and preparing audit reports.
Familiar with Academic HealthSciences Center processes and compliance with using Banner, Chrome River,MyReports, core office approvals and reviewing/analyzing accountingtransaction.
