Position Summary | The University of New Mexico, College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (UL&LS), has an opening for a full-time Manager, Library Operations for Extended Hours & Services. We seek a service-oriented individual with a proven ability to lead and implement services in a collaborative environment. This position joins the Access Services team, a group whose areas of responsibility include circulation and help/information services; resource sharing and delivery services; stewardship of physical library collections, including those housed at our high-density repository; and oversight for learning and creative spaces. THE POSITION AND TEAM The Manager, Library Operations for Extended Hours & Services supervises the 3-person staff team providing circulation and information services and facility oversight during Zimmerman Library’s extended hours with a midnight closing Sunday - Thursday. The position is also primarily responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of the Zimmerman Library student team - approximately 45 student employees working a variety of shifts during the regular academic semesters. The position serves on the Access Services Leadership team and will work closely with this group on coordinating student training across Access Services. This position reports to the Sr. Operations Manager for Collections & the South Campus Repository. The staff and students in this reporting line support the collection maintenance activities for Zimmerman Library open stack collections. This work includes collection inventory, shelving, shelfreading, collection moves, and other special projects related to the preparation of material for the South Campus Repository, a high bay, high density storage facility. The Manager, Library Operations for Extended Hours & Services will work a Sunday - Thursday schedule during regular academic semesters, as do the staff in the reporting line. Hours will vary slightly, with an anticipated 11:30 - 8:00 pm schedule on Sundays and a 9:00 - 6:00 pm schedule Monday - Thursday. Schedules for this team shift to Monday - Friday coverage during intersession and summer periods. THE ENVIRONMENT UNM is a Tier I Research Institution. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
