Position Summary

The UNM-Taos Nursing program invites applicants to apply for full-time, 9- month, faculty position. Nursing faculty at UNM-Taos provide quality education for students in northern New Mexico, preparing nurses who are compassionate, knowledgeable, and competent in providing care for our diverse community. Salary runs $75,000-$78,000 depending on education.

The position provides coordination and instruction for the students entering into and throughout the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. Instructional responsibilities include classroom, lab, clinical, office hours, and simulation using a concept-based, lifespan curriculum. Service and scholarship responsibilities include, but are not limited to, clinical coordination and oversight, student mentoring and advising, and participation in university, nursing program, or nursing organizational committees and activities to ensure nursing program outcomes and achievements. All full-time continuing faculty positions have both instructional and non- instructional responsibilities.

The position requires utilization of technology for instruction and communication, a commitment to student success for our rural and diverse population, and use of effective interpersonal, leadership and organization skills.

Our student population is comprised of non-traditional and first-generation students. UNM-Taos is the recipient of several federal grants including three TRIO programs (Student Support Services, and Veterans Upward Bound), Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) grants including Title V and Title III: Part F STEM, USDA NIFA and LIFT, and most recently, a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant.

About 80% of UNM-Taos alumni remain in the area and provide valuable contributions to the region's intellectual life, economy, cultural community, and primary industries including healthcare, tourism, and construction.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Current unopposed New Mexico license as a registered nurse or approved multistate license
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience working as a registered nurse

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a nurse educator
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution, particularly community college experience
  • Professional certification related to nursing and/or nursing education-
  • Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) considered a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and student success
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional and collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
