Position SummaryUNM School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation isan academic-affiliated medical center that is seeking an experienced anddynamic physician leader to serve as the Program Director for ourACGME-accredited Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) ResidencyProgram. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the next generation ofphysiatrists through a robust academic training program in a mission-driven,state-supported medical center.
The Program Director will be responsible for the overall leadership,administration, and accreditation of the residency program, ensuring compliancewith ACGME requirements while fostering excellence in education, clinicaltraining, mentorship, and faculty development.
We are seeking candidates who are board-certified (or eligible) in PM&Rand who meet all ACGME criteria for program director eligibility. Faculty rankand clinical focus within PM&R are flexible, and the candidate may comefrom any subspecialty within PM&R.
With acatchment population of over 800,000 and very little competition, the UNMhospital is a 618-bed, Level 1 trauma center servicing a state with a verystrong need for PM&R services. Applicants with diverse interests inPM&R are all welcome and will be well-supported with the multi-specialtyteam focusing on using a wide range of minimally invasive surgical andnon-surgical techniques.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • U.S. Board certified or board eligible in PM&R
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of New Mexico
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a faculty member in anACGME-accredited PM&R residency program

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated leadership in medical education, curriculum development,and/or GME accreditation
  • Previous experience as an Associate Program Director or Program Director
  • Experience with ACGME Self-Study, citation resolution, or programexpansion
  • Scholarly activity in medical education, QI, or rehabilitation research
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich andvaried cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission toserve local and global communities
