Position Summary

PositionSummary:

The University of New Mexico ("UNM") Schoolof Law invites applications for a faculty position teaching Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and related topics. This faculty position is afull-time tenured or tenure-track position starting in Fall 2026. Experiencepracticing criminal law is desirable but not required and entry-level andexperienced teachers are encouraged to apply. We seekcandidates with scholarly distinction or promise as well as a commitment toexcellence in teaching.

Offering a J.D. degree, the UNM School of Law isnationally recognized for innovative classes that combine law practice skillstraining with doctrinal instruction and a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Ourfaculty is one of the most ethnically and racially diverse faculties in thecountry and our student body is similarly diverse.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess a J.D. or equivalent legal degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A record of demonstrated excellence or the promise of excellence in teaching.
  • A record of demonstrated excellence or the promise of excellence in academic scholarship.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
