Our esteemed dental practice is seeking adedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Dental Hygienist.  The University of New Mexico is seeking faculty at the Open Rank level in the OpenTrack to join the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Dental Hygiene.  The Department of Dental Medicine hasa primary mission of delivering education and a full spectrum of clinical care.We believe that everyone deserves access to exceptional dental care, regardlessof their abilities or challenges.

The Department of Dental Medicine incollaboration UNMH at theUniversity of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is looking for afull-time Dental Hygienist toprovide and oversee direct dental diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and carefor patients in a public health setting.  You will work closely with our team todeliver personalized and compassionate dental services tailored to the uniqueneeds of each patient.  The ideal candidate should be comfortable teachingcourse for the Hygiene Program.  In addition, the ideal candidate will haveexperience working with and supervising dental residents.  This is a Open Rankposition which affords applicants the opportunity to enter as an Assistant,Associate, or Full Professor and educator who is primarily engaged in clinicalcare with residents.  The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinaryteam of faculty providing the delivery of education, clinical care, andresearch.  This position will be doing 0.8 clinical in UNMH (UNM Hospital) and0.2 educational with UNM Dental Hygiene.

Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to:

  • Perform routinecleanings, scaling, and polishing while ensuring comfort and reducing anxiety
  • Educate patients andcaregivers on the importance of daily oral hygiene practices, as well as how tomanage oral care routines at home.
  • Teaching courses atall levels, graduate student thesis/project advising and research mentoring,committee work, and scholarly and service activity.
  • Participate incommunity outreach efforts to raise awareness about the importance of dentalcare.
  • Accurately documentpatient assessments, treatments provided, and progress in the patient’s medicalrecords to ensure continuity of care.
  • Provide feedback andrecommendations to the clinical team regarding the patient's ongoing dentalneeds.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of ScienceDegree in Dental Hygiene or related degree
  • Current DentalHygiene License in New Mexico, or license by hire date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of ScienceDegree in Dental Hygiene
  • OSHA Certified
  • CPR/BLS Certified
  • A demonstratedcommitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of NewMexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and globalcommunities.
