Position Summary

The University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is accepting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor (dependent on qualifications) of History, which is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position. The position begins August 12, 2019.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch community college associated with the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,300 each semester.

Summary of duties and responsibilities: Provide 15 credit hours of classroom instruction per semester in the area of History. Participating in classroom technology training, middle school and high school outreach activities, and faculty professional development related to student engagement and instruction may be required. Other responsibilities are maintaining student records, posting and maintaining office hours, and participating in curriculum development, outcomes assessment, college committees, professional development, departmental projects, and college/community service.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

· Master’s Degree in a field of History.

· One year of community college/two-year college teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Ph.D. in a field of History.

· Experience in online teaching and learning.

· Demonstrated commitment to professional development, such as attending or presenting at workshops or conferences or publishing.

· Experience with curriculum development and/or assessment

· Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
