Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is seeking a full time physician for Pediatric Emergency Medicine Faculty. This physician will help to support and expand a thriving clinical program, an excellent PEM fellowship, and a strong community research program.

Our facility is the only pediatric emergency department in New Mexico. We have an annual census of 24,000 visits per year. The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is also the single tertiary care facility and Level 1 Trauma Center for the state.

We lead multiple community preparedness programs and research efforts throughout the state through our EMSC funded "Child Ready Program." We are particularly focused on strengthening pediatric emergency care in tribal and rural areas of New Mexico.

Our Department of Emergency Medicine has 69 full-time and part-time attending physicians, and is also home to an outstanding EM Residency, EMS Academy and Center for Disaster Medicine. The University is located in the beautiful mountain west at the intersection of unique and diverse cultures. Our region offers outstanding recreational opportunities year-round and is home to world class skiing, hiking, biking, climbing, arts, and cuisine.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Board certified in Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine and sub-boarded or board-eligible in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Must be eligible to obtain a State of New Mexico licensure and NM Federal DEA at time of application and have obtained (NM) licensure and certification at time of hire.

Preference

  • Experience in teaching
  • Strong interest and experience in clinical education or administrative leadership.
