Position Summary

University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Services Academy - Full Time Faculty

NEW MEXICO: The University of New Mexico, School of Medicine, Department of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Services Academy (EMS Academy), is seeking full-time faculty. This position will serve as a primary faculty member with the EMS Academy, teaching primarily for USAF Pararescue EMS Satellite at Kirtland Air Force Base. This faculty position will be responsible for the primary instruction and coordination of EMT and Paramedic level material, student evaluation and special components of EMS training.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree,
  • current Nationally Registered Paramedic at point of hire,
  • a fully licensed New Mexico Paramedic at point of hire,
  • ability to obtain access and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force Base,
  • two years of EMS clinical experience demonstrating above average knowledge and skill at the Paramedic level
  • two years of EMS education experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree,
  • three years of recent paramedic level EMS clinical experience,
  • two years of experience teaching EMS at the paramedic level,
  • medical simulation experience,
  • experience teaching military personnel for the U.S. Air Force Pararescue Program and
  • a New Mexico EMS I/C Certification. A candidate who does not currently possess a NM EMS I/C must complete the NM I/C certification and affiliation requirement within 3 months of employment. After NM I/C certification is completed, compensation will be adjusted to reflect standard EMS lecturer compensation.
